About This Project
Why this independent browser-based image tool exists, how it works, and what you can expect from its current features and original examples.

A small place to experiment
This project helps people explore what an image looks like with fewer pixels and fewer colors. You can upload a picture, change its logical resolution, choose a palette, compare dithering methods, and save a PNG without setting up an account.
The goal is a useful creative starting point. Automatic conversion can suggest a color mood or simplify a reference, but it does not replace the deliberate shapes and careful editing of hand-drawn pixel artwork.
What runs on your device
The converter uses your browser's image canvas and deterministic image-processing algorithms. It resizes an input, maps its colors to a limited palette, and optionally applies dithering. It does not use a text-to-image AI model. The current public tool does not upload your source image to a server or store an online gallery of your work.
You can save the result as a native-size or integer-scaled PNG. Uploads, previews, and downloads are currently free, with no account, subscription, or watermark.
Our examples and identity
The adventure emblem was supplied for this project by its owner. The landscape, cat, flower, cabin, and inventory examples are original demo illustrations drawn by procedural code for this site. Their displayed outputs use the same conversion engine as the live tool. They are labeled examples, not customer submissions, stock photographs, or evidence of an AI model's output.
The Game Boy-inspired palette is a four-tone preset. PICO-8 refers to a familiar limited-color palette. These preset names explain a color style; they do not imply official affiliation with a game or hardware company.
Current scope
The live product handles static PNG, JPEG, and WebP images. It does not currently offer animation, a manual drawing editor, Minecraft block matching, bead color matching, or printed PDF patterns. Only completed public pages are linked from navigation.
Please use images you own or have permission to modify. Processing a picture does not change the rights attached to the source material.
